This is Golden Retriever 14-week-old puppy boy, Blaze. He is approximately 13 lbs in weight and up to date on his immunizations.
Malay, Blaze’s current foster dad, just sent me the following letter asking for some help. I have just sent a donation. I am hoping some of the folks that visit my foundation and this blog can pitch in as well.
Blaze came to Gulf South Golden Retriever Rescue (GSGRR) from the Baton Rouge Animal Shelter n August, 2008. He is currently being fostered in Metairie, LA by GSGRR volunteer, Malay. Blaze is a very sweet, playful, and affectionate golden puppy. He loves people and enjoys playing with other dogs. Blaze already knows how to sit and carries the lease in his mouth when he wants to go for a walk. He definitely is all golden love.
On a recent visit to the veterinary clinic, Blaze was diagnosed with Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), a commonly diagnosed congenital heart defect in dogs. The veterinarian doctor suspected PDA in Blaze when he heard characteristic continuous “machinery” heart murmur during examination at the time of vaccination. He recommended that surgery be performed as soon as possible – as early as 16 weeks of age – before changes have occurred as the heart tries to compensate for the defect. According to him, the prognosis for a normal life with early surgery is usually very good. The estimated cost to perform the surgery is about $3,500.00.
GSGRR is requesting donation from anyone and everyone towards Blaze’s surgery. Even small donations will make a big difference in Blaze’s life. If you or anyone you know are interested in donating money towards Blaze’s surgery, please visit www.gulfsouthgoldens.com and use our paypal account.
