How could anyone resist these photos taken by Carrie Rosema of The Press-Enterprise?

Oleander has been living within the median bushes on Interstate 10 in Banning for at least 2 months. He was recently rescued and is now at the Riverside County animal shelter as he awaits a forever home. When he was brought in, this poor thing was a mere 35 pounds.

He has a fractured front leg and will be undergoing surgery in a month to correct it, Animal Services paying for the treatment.

The Department of Animal Services hopes to find someone willing to “foster” Oleander, to give her a temporary home before and after the surgery. Oleander is also available for adoption. Welsh described Oleander as “a real sweetheart.”

Anyone interested in fostering Oleander should call Jenifer Glenn at Riverside County Animal Services at 951-358-7041. The dog’s identification number is A472560.

The shelter is located at 5950 Wilderness Avenue, Riverside, CA 92504.

Holiday Card Sending – ut oh….

I have been going nuts trying to help folks with some holiday shopping, marking down some small items (great for stockings and the many days of Hanukah) and putting some on a super sale status (i.e,, What was I thinking, I’m making so little on these products).

But, I just went to my calendar and found out that Hanukah comes veeeeeeeery early this year, as in Tuesday night, Dec 4th. That means, my markdowns on Golden puppy Alfie Hanukah cards came a wee bit too late.

The image “https://i0.wp.com/store.landofpuregold.com/picts/alfie-xmas-card.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.Folks can still make a killing on my Christmas Cards. I created this card some years back from a puppy photo of my English boy and I’m still in love with it. Inside, the card says, I’ve been as Good as Gold. Merry Christmas!

Now is the time to really get a GReat bargain. These oversized 5¼” x 7¼” quality classic ivory linen cards are a hefty 80-pound weight with matching 70-pound linen envelopes.

You save the more you buy, saving on shipping costs as well.

Sunbear Squad Watch Tip of the Week: Dec 2nd

The Sunbear Squad has resolved to make a difference for neglected and abused companion animals. They are transforming animal lovers into animal welfare defenders — with knowledge, tools, and inspiration.

Watch Tip: Watch for empty or frozen water dishes—outside dogs on chains and in kennels often get inadequate care during the winter months.

A note about the mortgage crisis: it has also created a crisis for some household pets of foreclosed-upon owners. The former homeowners leave their pets behind, trapped in empty homes, because they can’t take their pets with them for various reasons. They don’t understand that weeks or months may elapse before agents inspect the home. Please take action when a home is foreclosed upon in your neighborhood. Be a Good Samaritan. Go stand near the home and call out repeatedly for the pet; it may bark or meow or come to the window. Listen and watch for signs of life. Do this several days in a row because some traumatized pets may be frightened, too frightened to respond at first. You may save a life!
